Lagerfeld recalls the fashion age of innocence in Chanel Spring 2018 Couture show.

There is something soft, feminine yet empowering in a French Garden and Karl Lagerfeld knows best how to combine those qualities in a single show. For Chanel Spring Summer 2018 couture show the Grand Palais had been transformed into an dreamy Paris Park,a garden of Eden featuring thousands of delicate English garden roses in elaborate trellises. And a fountain, of course. The idea of the rose, strong in its beautiful vulnerability was the inspiration behind the dashed-off pastel palette of the show. There were Chanel tweeds in macaron pastels, chiffon skirts and a series of evening gowns again in a flower palette. The silhouettes ranged from super slim to voluminous, from tight waistbands to exaggerated shoulders. As with most Chanel shows, there was something for everyone. And that is no easy task by itself.

However, i could not but think that this has been a year of tributes for Karl Lagerfeld. After the Hamburg Metiers d”Art show hosted in his native city of Hamburg, the present show seemed like another tribute,to what fashion shows used to be in the past-events of sheer beauty and sweetness. The fashion age of innocence.
