Saint Laurent FALL 2016 RTW-” Couture Caricature”

Honestly now,how many minidresses can a rtw (excuse me,couture..) collection feature without calling it boring, the very least? In  Saint Laurent, Hedi Slimane certainly did his best, presenting a collection whose aesthetics echoed ‘Helmut Newton decadent chic’, and ‘ LA chick chic’,all produced by the couture team of the fashion house. Now,does that make the present collection couture?-yes and no.The fabrics and finishings were indeed, in most looks, impeccable.Yet,the overall silhouette was a glamorous repetition of what Mr Slimane is doing all his fashion career, a lean heroine chic-related yet full of hype girl who is rich enough to buy high street tailoring in couture prices. I mean, the pants were so ill fitting and the 80’s style belts so cheap looking, you had to question the term couture again and again. You could trace Mugler,Balmain and even early Karl Lagerfeld in a collection that much reminded of a swan song. Btw,am i the one thinking the casting was awful?
