Juergen Teller is definitely one of my favorite photographers/artists.He has manage to balance between high fashion and art, creating his very own world, where you enter feeling a bit like Alice in Wonderland. The magic potion is his immense talent and hard work to create beautiful, unique images and most of all…unexpected, unconventional. Therefore i am delighted to hear that Juergen Teller will be the subject of a major solo exhibition in ICA,London, which will open in January 2013. The exhibition will present new and recent photography and its one of the exhibitions not to miss.

A short bio of the artist indicates that uergen Teller was born in Erlangen, Germany in 1964. He studied at the Bayerische Staatslehranstalt fur Photographie in Munich, and has lived and worked in London since 1986.

In 2003, Teller was awarded the Citibank Prize for Photography, and, in 2007 was asked to represent the Ukraine as one of five artists in the 52nd Venice Biennale. He has also participated in group shows at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and Tate Modern in London. As well as being the subject of several solo exhibitions at the The Photographers Gallery, London (1998), the Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna (2004) and the Fondation Cartier Pour l’art Contemporain, Paris (2006), Teller also exhibited Man With Banana at The Dallas Contemporary Museum and Touch Me at Daelim Contemporary Art Museum in Seoul, Korea.

For the past fourteen years, Teller has been working with Marc Jacobs on his advertising campaigns which were collated in the book, Marc Jacobs Advertising 1998-2009 by Steidl, currently in its 2nd edition. Teller has also had long collaborations with other designers over the years, including Helmut Lang, Yves Saint Laurent, Vivienne Westwood and more recently, Celine. His photographs have been published in influential international publications such as W Magazine, i-D and Purple.Still,i bet, some of them you knew it already!

Teller has produced numerous monographs over the years, including the most recent Steidl publication, Keys to the House (2011), which documents the landscape and activity around his house in Suffolk. The publication of Master III is also due later this year.

The Guardian added: “Titled woo, after a sarcastic exclamation of enthusiasm in the Will Ferrell-produced comedy Eastbound and Down, one of Teller’s favourite TV shows, the ICA exhibition will display Teller’s personal projects in frames, while a room upstairs will be plastered with tear sheets of his commercial work. This sounds denigrating, but Teller maintains that he is merely showing it as it was intended. “I’m just producing work and I try to find channels where I can express myself,” he says. “That can be a magazine, a book, a poster… whether it’s art or photography I really don’t care.”
